Sewing Machines....

When it it too much?  I still have my old Bernina.  It is an Activa 140.  I still have my old Singer I used to make the kids clothes when they were little.  It is a Futura II (with cams).  I have my Janome...I have my featherweight...I have the longarms (x2).....I have two treadles...  All of this 'downsizing' has me wondering....  We are looking at houses online, as we hope to have this one listed by tax day--April 15.   Most of them have to be knocked out of the running because I need two rooms just for me!  One for a sewing room and one for the girls (the longarms)  Both rooms have to be BIG because of how much "stuff" I have.  So, when is it too much?  I put a few of the machines on Craig's List.  I've had success with a lot of the other items I have put on there, so I figured.....what the heck?  I'm trying to be a good elf and eliminate some things so we don't have so much to move, but I am torn.  Can you relate?

This is the treadle I have on there.  I picked it up locally at an antique shop and listed it for what I have in it.  All it needs is a belt, and do I really need two?  The other Hubs bought for me when we lived on the other side of the state, so I can't get rid of it....

I'm taking tomorrow off work to do some painting and pack up all of the pics we have EVERYWHERE.  Moving scares me.  I love our house.  I love our yard.  Frankly, the thought of Hubs and I finding something we can agree on is probably the most worrisome part.  As much as I love to remodel and make things 'nice' again, I want a house that is already done.  I don't want to spend all of my freetime working on a house.....

So much for an uplifting post!  Ugh!  Trying to be excited....but it really isn't working!

Happy National Quilting Day!

As you enjoy your day quilting, there is something I would like for you to consider.....the entire world is full of 'quilters' who are simply in denial that they are quilters!  Allow me to prove my point.  These are some hardwood floor inlays available if your wallet is large enough....

Check out the vintage Carrom boards.....(Photo courtesy of the Carrom Company's website).  Tell me they weren't designed by a quilter!

Check out this English-themed garden.  Tell me from a plane that it really isn't just a frustrated gardener who would rather be quilting!

I'm pretty sure these tile roofers got this design from Miss Rosie's Casablanca design!

I won't bore you with the hundreds of pics I have downloaded to prove my point.  So, put on those sweats, turn off the phone and the computer....and shuffle right down to your sewing room and create a masterpiece!  You are not alone and you should enjoy YOUR day!!!

Blessings....

Life gets in the way.....

A recent conversation with the Hubs......

Me:  Honey, I found us a house.
Hubs:  Where?
Me:  Tuscany.....**silence**
Hubs:  O----K------  Let me see
            That's not a house--it's a castle.
Me:  Yup!  You told me I get to pick the house this time.  BTW, I will probably need all new furniture.  Ours won't look right.
Hubs:  Honey, you can't afford that one.
Me:  Honey, I don't need to--that's YOUR job.
Hubs:  When it says "call for price", that means WE can't afford it.
Me:  You said I could have whatever house I wanted....
Hubs:  Unless I win the lottery, you are out of luck.
Me:  I knew I should have married Brad Pitt when he asked!

So, does this post tell you where I have been??  I have been doing a ton of longarming, don't get me wrong.  However, I have also been purging and cleaning out closets.  We have moved the longarms down to the room where the boys were all staying and actually turned that bedroom back into a real bedroom!  Bagged up lots of things we said we couldn't part with and they go off to be donated this weekend.  Bagged up lots of things we said we couldn't part with and they went down to the curb for the friendly trashmen, who I am pretty sure aren't liking us right now....  I have Craig's Listed everything from the hot tub to sewing machines to the foosball table that goes up tonight....

We have moved nephew out....I have been able to re-claim some of my closets....and have just been busy, busy, busy.  PLUS, I've been working like a crazy woman with the new job!  I do have some pics to upload, but I don't have time this morning...

AND...we finally have pics of our new granddaughter that is perking in step-diva's belly!  She is due to come out and play in July, so I have to change up the embroidery quilt....will save those other blocks for our first boy, or the next girl.  Since this is our first, we are definitely feeling the princess-theme rather than just fairy tale...

Are you quilting tomorrow?  How will you spend International Quilting Day?  I will at least be longarming....and may try to sneak in my sewing room.  But, I have to remember where it is....it has been soooooo long!

Back like a bad dream...
